The Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) has executed a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) to receive up to $925 million in federally funded dollars to spearhead the development of a clean hydrogen hub in Appalachia. The hub is expected to spur billions of dollars in public and private investments in the region to build a clean, economically viable, and socially equitable hydrogen ecosystem.

HYDROGEN IS THE FUTURE OF
APPALACHIAN ENERGY

The process of hydrogen capture, utilization, and storage will allow the Appalachian region to enhance our communities, create jobs, lower emissions, and fight climate change.

This will be made possible through the collaborative efforts and partnerships of organizations, companies, non-profits, and other entities within the region.

Our Vision

Our vision is to have a clean, economically viable and socially equitable H2 ecosystem—spanning multiple production, storage, delivery, and diverse end-use applications within the Appalachian region—that serves as a model for a national clean H2 network.

Our Mission

ARCH2 will use the nation’s lowest-cost NG as primary feedstock to enable and sustain a regional H2 economy across multiple end-use sectors in the Appalachian region while ensuring economic benefits are shared fairly and equitably among local communities.
